The TAPPED-IN Learning Model was developed to support the improvement of academic reading skills in higher education. This model is specifically designed for third-semester university students who take Academic Reading courses, as this stage serves as an important foundation for conducting research and completing academic writing assignments. Developing critical reading habits is expected to help students comprehend academic texts and scientific journals more effectively. This instructional model provides systematic guidance for both lecturers and students through six learning stages: Engage and Empathize, Explore and Define, Explain and Ideate, Elaborate and Prototype, Assess and Test, and Reflect and Iterate. Through these stages, students are encouraged to engage actively in reading activities, develop critical thinking skills, and construct deeper understanding of academic texts.
