This book is intended to increase understanding of multilingualism,especially in Yogyakarta. Originally sourced from fieldwork of a Sociolinguistics class in 2022, this collection ofninearticles were based on research mostly conducted in the city of Yogyakarta, which iswell-known as a tourist destination, center of Javanese culture, and centerof education. The research settings include airports, hotels and inns,museums, restaurants and cafes, supermarkets, universities, sportsvenues, libraries, and health institutions. The LL in this variety ofplaces reflects many facets of languages of Yogyakarta, including what languages are used, language choice and preference, themes ormessagesconveyed,sign makers, and language functions. This bookshows that Yogyakarta has fascinating multilingual appearance.
